"Between looking into the future and glancing back at the past, we decide to head towards another peak in a certain direction."

In the Tainan 400 project, we were invited by the Tainan City Government to participate, hoping to present the historical context of Tainan's 400 years of existence through technological art installations. We attempt to contemplate the propositions this era offers us, standing at the intersection where people, facing changing lifestyles or innovations of different eras, continuously propel us forward like waves. We hope that the work is not just an object or symbol for this land and city, but also an exploration and representation of temporality; as the audience steps into the waves composed of dynamics and light, they can feel the force of compression and continuity, as if placed between accumulation and dissipation, shuttling back and forth between highs and lows, still surging forward amidst the unknown and uncertain.

Ultimately, time cannot be captured or deduced, much like Tainan experiencing numerous fluctuations of the sea, where crustal movements erode and deposit, causing rivers to meander. These lagoons, marshes, and sandbars themselves contain vast amounts of sediment, and the sediment carried by rivers tends to accumulate more easily at the mouths of rivers and both sides of their coasts, leading to the continuous expansion of plains and the coastline moving westward, eventually turning the sea into land. We know that the incessant tug of the waves has shaped this land that nurtures life, but we cannot replicate history, only daring to speculate and retain the waves of recurrent movement, perhaps the waves after 400 years will be the same.
